Remember what neighborhoods used to be like—you knew all the people on your street and were good friends with some of them. You borrowed eggs and exchanged recipes. You helped out neighbors when they needed a hand and were helped out in return. You watched each other's kids when they were small and then watched as they grew up. Your life and the life of your family was intertwined with lives of dozens of others—friends, family, neighbors, co-workers. Back then, people didn’t talk much about community. Community is the sort of thing you talk about once it’s gone and you begin to feel the absence of all the things it gave you—friendly neighbors, a sense of place, and friends you didn’t have drive an hour to see or go online to find. Re-creating that sense of intimate connection and interdepedence among neighbors is one of the central goals of Neshobe Farm. That’s why the development is designed the way it is—with small-scale neighborhoods of just-right-sized homes, facing one another across shared greens. Neighborhoods at Neshobe are designed for sharing. If you’re looking for a more grounded and authentic way of the life—a life centered around family, community, and the earth that sustains us—call us and find out how you can help build or become a part of the Neshobe Farm community. |
